Crownwell Press is pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, Volume 1, in a new critical edition. This volume contains fifty-three sermons from the earliest years of Charles Haddon Spurgeon's London ministry, presented with modernized spelling, corrected punctuation, and a typographic design suited to sustained reading and study. It is the first installment of a complete edition of the Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit, the largest single-author sermon collection in the history of the Christian church. Publication details, format availability, and preorder information will be announced in the coming weeks.

A book is not merely a delivery mechanism for text. It is an object, and objects communicate. A poorly made book tells the reader, whether consciously or not, that its contents were not worth the investment of care. A well-made book says the opposite. At Crownwell Press, we believe that the material quality of a book is inseparable from the seriousness with which its contents are treated. Our hardcovers are Smyth sewn. Our interiors are typeset with the same attention given to the finest university press volumes. This is not vanity. It is stewardship.

Every publishing house begins with a conviction. Ours is simple: the most important books in the Christian tradition deserve to be published well. For too long, the works that pastors, scholars, and serious readers depend on have been available primarily in cheap reprints with poor typography and fragile bindings. Crownwell Press was founded to change that. With a catalog of over three hundred titles, three distinct imprints, and a commitment to editorial and production excellence, we are building a publishing house designed to serve the church for generations. This is how we began, and where we are going.
